Screen Printing Column (21)

~Familiar screen printing~

The other day, I went to see an exhibition on the theme of printable electronics.
Inkjet printers are now widely used in our homes as an output tool for personal computers. You can easily print beautiful photos with a printer that costs tens of thousands of yen. Therefore, I think it's only natural to think about applying inkjet printers to electronics. Certainly, the ability to easily print data from a computer is unfortunately something that screen printing cannot handle.

However, there are things that screen printing cannot do with other printing methods. That is, "it corresponds to various inks". To help explain this, I thought about what common household items can be screen-printed.

First, I looked into the refrigerator in the kitchen. …It was there!!!

Mayonnaise … Since it has an appropriate viscosity, it seems to be printable.
Butter … If you heat it up a little, it will become soft and ready for printing.
Ice cream...let's print it before it melts.
Miso … There are a lot of grains, but I wonder if I can print using a plate with a coarse mesh.
Chocolate … Melts when heated a little and turns into a paste, ready for printing.

Then I looked into the living room.
There was glue that was used for paperwork. This is a fine paste. If you print quickly, it will likely print.
Next, when I looked into the washroom, there was a toothpaste tube that I use every day. If you put toothpaste on the plate, it seems that you can print it.
Finally, when you look into the bathroom, you will find a bottle of shampoo. If you put the shampoo on the plate, it seems that you can print it.

In this way, "screen printing" makes it easy to print things that we normally eat and use. Don't be bound by conventional concepts, print anything with screen printing, and advance technological innovation with screen printing.

To support these needs, the HP-320, which allows easy hand printing, the DP-320 with high repeatability, and its big brother the LS-150 are ready to provide support.
