~Delicious Juice and Screen Printing~
A vending machine on a street corner. There are rows of juicy cans illuminated by fluorescent lights. While watching this, insert coins and press the button. The vending machine slaps and drops the can into the outlet.
Does it have something to do with screen printing?...is actually very relevant. A sample can under fluorescent light is not a real can.
Vending machines are constantly exposed to UV rays from sunlight and fluorescent lights. This UV light has a very high energy. When the printed material is exposed to this light, the color of the printed material changes rapidly. In particular, the color changes from red, which absorbs UV rays, so the color of the printed material gradually becomes bluer.
However, the cans that we actually hold in our hands need to keep the printing clear from the time we pick it up to the time we drink it. And since it is food, the storage environment is also considered, so it is almost never exposed to ultraviolet rays. Considering the cost of the product, it is not a good idea to use UV-resistant ink for printing on real cans.
On the other hand, if you put a real can on the vending machine display, the color will change immediately and it will look like an unappetizing product. This will also reduce juice sales.
That's where screen printing comes in.
Compared to other printing methods, screen printing is able to print thicker and has the advantage of being compatible with various inks. By applying these characteristics, UV-resistant ink is used to screen-print a can that looks just like a real can. These cans are molded in the same shape as real cans and displayed on vending machine displays.
In this way, beautiful printing can be maintained for a long time even outdoors where ultraviolet rays are strong.
In this way, screen printing plays an active role in our daily lives.
